What did Jesus Teach about War?
Jesus is
called The Prince of Peace, but his followers have been involved in Religious
wars for nearly two thousand years. They've led crusades, inquisitions, pogroms, imperialistic conquests and holocausts. The Catholics and Protestants have been killing each other since the 16th Century, and continue unabated to this day in Northern Ireland. The only Nuclear Bombs ever to be used in war were first blessed by Christian ministers. Today as I write American soldiers are in the Middle East under a Christian president who said God told him to invade Iraq.
Jesus said many people thru the ages would claim to be his followers but would actually be the followers of Satan. He called them Wolves in Sheep's clothing.
It is my belief that those Christians who have slaughtered and killed in Jesus name were pretenders, for Jesus neither authorized violence, nor desired it, but most vehemently spoke against any use of force. He said a tree is known by it's fruit, and he said you would be able to know his true disciples by their LOVE.
Did you know there are more scriptures about peace than salvation in the New Testament?
During the first 300 years of the Christian Church all of her leaders said the use of violence, and serving in the military, or police forces, was a sin.
I am always stunned to meet people claiming to be
Christians who believe that military service, or police work, is acceptable to God. There are over 50 Scriptures in
the New Testament stating that Christian are never to use violence. Look at them for yourself. The quotes in Yellow are
the very words of Jesus.
