Christianity's Greatest Social Shame - Slavery
It cannot be denied that
the Hebrew Scriptures, including the 10 commandments, condone slavery. The 10th
Commandment says
- Exod 20:17 -Thou shalt not covet
thy neighbour's house; thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his
man-slave, nor his maid-slave.
Leviticus 25:44 -Both thy bond
slave, and thy bondmaids slave, which thou shalt have, shall be of the heathen
that are round about you; of them shall ye buy bondmen and bondmaids.
Leviticus 25:45 -Moreover of the
children of the strangers that do sojourn among you, of them shall ye buy, and
of their families that are with you, which they begat in your land: and they
shall be your possession.
Leviticus 25:46 -And ye shall
take them as an inheritance for your children after you, to inherit them for a
possession; they shall be your bondsmen for ever: but over your brethren the
children of Israel, ye shall not rule one over another with rigor not go out
as the men slaves do.
Exodus 21:8 -If she please not
her master, who hath betrothed her to himself, then shall he let her be
redeemed: to sell her unto a strange nation he shall have no power, seeing he
hath dealt deceitfully with her.
Exodus 21:20 -And if a man smite
his slave, or his maid slave, with a rod, and he die under his hand; he shall
be surely punished
Exodus 21:21 -Notwithstanding, if
he lives a day or two, he shall not be punished: for he is his money.
This is really disgusting that humans saw other
humans as possessions and money and they could beat them within an inch of
their life and not think it was a sin.
Yahshuah Came
to End Slavery
For
those
who claim Yahshuah continued the abusive system of slavery, or that he was
silent about it, I suggest they read more closely.
Yahshuah came
to end all tyranny, all religious ceremonies, rituals,
sacrifices, temples, unjust enslavements, etc.
Yahshuah
said:
"The Spirit of Yah is upon
me, because he has anointed me to bring glad tidings to the
poor." He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the
slaves." "He sent me to set the slaves free". (LK 4:18)
So What
Happened? Why did Christians do Nothing for Nearly Two millennia until the 19th
Century?
Paul rejected Yahshuah's mandate and substituted another
Gospel:
"Slaves, be obedient to them that are your masters
according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as
unto Christ." (Ephesians 6:5)
Exhort slaves to be obedient unto their
own masters, and to please them well in all things; not talking back. (Titus
2:9)
Following the fallacious advice of Paul, the early
Christians treated slavery the same way the modern Christians treat warfare.
They spiritualized his teaching and said Yahshuah only came to set people free
from their sins. The modern Christians spiritualize his call to be
Peacemakers saying he only means inner peace. Meanwhile they continue to
promote their nation's evil wars of plunder or defense.
Yahshuah's
entire Gospel is about setting the slaves free, free from sin and the fear of
death and free from the clutches of religious people and free from military and
government agents, insurrectionist gangs and all slave masters who have enslaved
other human beings by force.
I believe Yahshuah came to destroy the
world system which is ruled by Azazel (the God of this world) that includes all
known religions and all known forms of men's control over others (that would be
every state, kingdom, empire, tribal council etc. which exist only by force and
by enslaving others.) He came to destroy the works of Azazel, establish a
kingdom of peace and love, and tear down boundaries between races and slaves and
masters.
The greatest social shame of
Christianity is that it took nearly two thousand years for them to realize
that slavery is a sin, will it take another two thousand before they realize
that warfare is an even worse sin?
